AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH
Across the nation, April is recognized as Autism Awareness Month. We are more than excited to celebrate and bring awareness to Autism at Findley Elementary School. Throughout the school district, we are one of the few schools that houses an Autism program and we are very proud of this fact. We have high expectations for all of our students and highly promote acceptance and diversity. On April 2nd, we celebrated "Light It Up Blue"; students and staff wore blue to support Autism awareness. As you can see below, some of our kindergarteners were rocking blue from head-to-toe!

PENNIES FOR PASTA
Findley Elementary School teamed up with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help raise for families and individuals surviving a type of blood cancer. All students had the opportunity to participate and over a three-week period, we were able to raise more than $1,200! The top three classes who raised the most money received a reward.

Red Ribbon Week
During the week of October 27th, Findley Elementary School celebrated Red Ribbon Week. This entire week was dedicated to learning how healthy choices can lead to a bright future! On Friday October 31st, everyone in the school wore a red ribbon and during the morning meeting students sang "A Drug-free Me," which was led by our amazing and very talented Mrs. Olson.
I HAVE A DREAM FOUNDATION
Findley Elementary School is very fortunate to have a close partnership with the I Have a Dream Foundation (IHAD). Mrs. Isaacson, from IHAD, came to every Findley classroom and talked to students about the importance of education and how it is never too early to start thinking of college. You could see the students' eyes light up when Mrs. Isaacson called them all "scholars." Also, IHAD delivered a big announcement, ALL Findley students receive a college savings account! There are milestones every school year where students can earn money for their accounts. This school year alone, students may earn up to $200 through academics and parent involvement. At Findley we aim high and dream big!
Meals from the Heartland
On Friday August 29th, Findley Elementary School participated in a volunteer opportunity with Meals from the Heartland. All students who had parent permission and no Level 2 office referrals headed downtown to help package meals for people in need. This was a great experience for all students as it teaches them to be respectful, responsible, and caring for others in the community and around the world. We are so proud of everyone who was involved!
